About
Meet Oumarou Traore, born in Dano, Burkina Faso on December 12th, 1971. Oumarou is a dedicated artist, having taught himself and successfully shown his work at the Goethe Institute in Ouagadougou, In Bobo Dioulasso, in Germany and as part of the BbDA association of artists in Burkina Faso. His work is also used for divination in Greece. His authentic and original spirited art is inspired by African spiritual action and is considered to bring energy and healing to those who enjoy.
Oumarou studied for many years in Dano and Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso in order to become a teacher. His work extends to children as he is a primary school teacher for children 8 to 12 years old. The children he teaches also feed the inspiration and spirit of his paintings.
Many of his paintings reflect the spirits of the Dagara culture of Burkina Faso. Their rich tradition and connection to the natural world create a lively relationship between art and the spiritual realm.
Oumarou’s work extends to his community, supporting the gathering of children in the regional schools to come together for cultural celebration, preservation and dance. He tirelessly supports the children of the Ioba Region as he organizes and support festivals each year. Please check the community page to see how to support these festival, their dates and upcoming projects.
